I was recently told (after a CT scan for kidney stones) that I have a fatty liver but I don't have any idea what this means. My doctor simply said to eat less fat. Is it a serious condition? Where can I find more information about this condition?
Some specifics about me:
I am overweight. I don't usually drink alcohol... maybe a glass of wine every 3 months or so.
The fact that you have fatty liver it means that you have a metabolic disorder (named: metabolic syndrome ) That is more complex that simple fat into the liver .
Obvius if you are overweight you should lose weight. In 90 % of patient is a benign disease for the liver . But that fat that shows CT Scan in the liver is also in the arteries of heart ,kidney , brain ,etc. Diabetes and hypertension is related .
There are a lot of information in the web. In this site ,in the blog ,I posted several articles about it.

Oh ok. I had no idea. My doctor just stated that I had the condition and that was it. There was no discussion about how serious it is or anything. Although it may be a benign disease of the liver it sounds like it is a really clear indicator that I probably have more serious problems brewing.
I had NAFLD until I had a transplant. It has one or more fatty tumors in the liver. It can be benige of have cancer in it. Mine had cancer. If yours turn out to have cancer then I would ask them when they do a biopsy to also do a citrus ablagation. It may dry the tumor up and get rid of the cancer, but I'll warn you it hurts like hell-o.
Good luck.
